It was easier ripping the CDs as I could just let one play whilst I worked away on the others. I'm already getting the feeling I had when I did FLAC ripps of 1000+ CDs a few years ago where I am ripping something I've not watched in a long time and finding myself wanting to stop everything and do so. Just ripped Barry Lyndon (though it only ended up as 30GB, again thanks to Warner's old tactic of skimping on bitrates back in the format war days). I keep reaching for random discs and picking stupidly long films without thought. Since the WD Red 6TB drives alone cost £220 each that's going to be very painful, unless it is possible to change a raid config over time? Can I, for instance, buy two drives, set them up under Raid 1, then add a third and forth, change to Raid 5 and not lose any data? I think I need to set my sights on a 4 bay NAS, filling it with 4x 6TB drives under a Raid 5 config. I made a mistake transcoding the three extras I wanted from Finding Nemo, so I am re-doing those right now (the UK release was only a single disc, so I will need to dig out my old DVD someday to add back some of the "legacy" special features). I'm slowly but surely understanding the typical workflow required for this monumental undertaking. Plex just did an fantastic update to the music side of their client just last week. Plea is probably in my near future, then. And the DLNA interface on the PS3 is a joke (it doesn't seem possible to drill down artists > albums > songs the artists section just has all the songs in alphabetical order), so I think I'll have to figure something out. Well, I've put all my digital music and a handful of videos on the Seagate.
